December 2012: Festschrift honors Bernhard Schlegel

This December issue of JCTC is a tribute to Prof. H. Bernhard Schlegel, a Gaussian collaborator whose contributions to quantum chemistry span over 30 years and include the eponymous Berny Optimization.

October 2012: European Research Council lauds Gaussian Collaborator

Congratulations to Prof. V. Barone, recently awarded a European Research Council Advanced Grant for the project “Development of a Research Environment for Advanced Modelling of Soft Matter.

September 2012: Honors for H. Bernard Schlegel

We are pleased to share the news that Berny Schlegel is an
ACS National Award winner for 2013. He has recently been awarded the
ACS Award for Computers in Chemical & Pharmaceutical Research.
Congratulations Berny!

July 2012: Gaussian researcher publishes book

Gaussian is proud to announce that our own James Cheeseman is co-author of the newly released book VCD Spectroscopy for Organic Chemists which presents a thorough introduction to vibrational circular dichroism and discusses the applications of VCD spectroscopy to the structural characterization of chiral organic molecules.

July 2012: In Memoriam: Prof. Philip J. Stephens 1940 - 2012

We would like to offer our most sincere condolences on the passing of Prof. Philip Stephens on July 31, 2012 in Los Angeles. Born in West Bromwich, UK in 1940, Stephens was widely renowned for his innovations and advances in VCD spectroscopy. He was inducted in 2008 as a Fellow of the Royal Society. Stephens studied at Oxford as a student of A.D. Buckingham, and was Professor of Chemistry at USC for over 40 years. More info: USC announcement
